Skijoring: Olympics Need To Bring Back

Skijoring is a fast-paced winter sport where a skier is towed by a horse, dog(s), or motor vehicle, originating from the Norwegian skikjøring ("ski-driving"). It combines skiing with rodeo-style elements, often featuring obstacles, jumps, and speeds up to 40 mph. It thrives as a thrilling, community-driven event in Western US, Europe, and Scandinavia.

Skijoring was featured as a demonstration sport at the 1928 Winter Olympics in St. Moritz, Switzerland. In that sole appearance, athletes were towed by horses across a frozen lake, with Sweden sweeping the medals. But since 1928 we haven't seen this sport in the Olympics.  And to be quite honest, I hadn't even heard of it, until a couple days ago.  But it seems so cool! Plus it's a sport that you would have to be pretty athletic to do.

Skiing sports in the 2026 Winter Olympics include Alpine skiing, Freestyle skiing, Cross-Country skiing, Ski Jumping, Nordic Combined, Snowboarding, and the debut of Ski Mountaineering. These disciplines feature over 60 medal events, spanning technical and speed events like downhill, slalom, aerials, and moguls. But, no Skijoring!

So, here are 3 different goals in the next 4 years.  One: I become a Skijoring expert.  I devout my life to becoming the best the in the world.  Two: I start a movement to include Skijoring in the 2030 Winter Olympics. Three: I win Gold in the Skijoring Olympic sport.  Sounds easy... right?!  France, here I come!
