In 2007 Julie Haggerty became the Polk County Recorder. At the time, I had been an employee in the Recorder's Office since 1999. When she came into the office, my position was one that was tied to the current elected official. At the time, there was 5 positions in the Recorder's Office tied to the elected official. I was the only one of those 5 positions that kept their position.
In the 19 years after I learned a lot in my time in the office. I learned all the different systems and in 2017 became the 1st Deputy Recorder under Julie. Having experience under the prior Recorder and then under Julie taught me a lot about the office. I think one of the things that I am most proud of in my time under Julie is that the Polk County Recorder's Office never went over budget. We never spent more than we were suppose to and always have given great service to the residents of Polk County. And to be honest, I wouldn't of stayed at a job for 26 years that I didn't believe in what we were doing.
10 years ago Lisa Chiodo starting working for us in the Recorder's Office. She worked in our Vital Records Department and helped in Real Estate in her time, and eventually became a Deputy as well in the office. What impresses me the most about Lisa is her work ethic. She would constantly be working all the time and would always provide answers for people. Over the last few years I would see her working on her breaks on her laptop doing school work to get her HR Management Certification as well. Her work ethic is most impressive and she is always looking to find answers and solutions for the staff.
I can say without a doubt that she will make a wonderful Polk County Recorder. After putting in 26 years of my life to the Recorder's Office, I can give her my 100 percent recommendation. To continue the Recorder's Office great service to the people of Polk County, electing Lisa Chiodo is the way to go.
I invite you to find out more about her on her website.
Let's make a great choice in Lisa Chiodo and continue on great government service! Get out and vote for her June 2nd, 2026.
Thomas Brogan, 1st Deputy Recorder and Polk County Resident
