Japanese KFC Dinner for Christmas : Bring to the States

Making dinner, appetizers, snacks and desserts for Christmas is a ton of work.  Sometimes in fact, you get so busy making food that you don't even get to enjoy your family and the holiday itself.  So when I read about how they do Christmas in Japan I was intrigued.

More than 50 years ago the Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurants in Japan started selling a Christmas meal.  Every year at Christmas, 3.5 million Japanese families opt for KFC.  Japan's KFC Christmas dinner is a unique tradition that started in 1974 with the "Kentucky for Christmas" campaign, which became a huge commercial success. It's so popular that families order special "Christmas Party Barrels" weeks or even months in advance, making it a holiday staple. The meal typically includes KFC fried chicken and sides, accompanied by a Christmas cake, especially strawberry shortcake, and sometimes special festive items.

Now, to be honest I never eat at KFC anymore.  I use to love it when I was younger.  It's not that I don't like it, I just never seem to think of it.  But, to have my whole dinner ready for pickup for Christmas and not have to worry about it? That sounds brilliant.

What do you think? Wouldn't it make life easier if we just make this the Christmas tradition for the United States?
