We all have that moment. You hear on the news or from one of your co-workers that the lottery is up to 1 billion dollars. For only $2 you could play and win all that money! But, the odds of winning the major lottery jackpots are exceptionally slim. For the two largest multi-state lotteries played in Iowa and across the U.S., the current odds are: Mega Millions: 1 in 290,472,336 | Powerball: 1 in 292,201,338
So your saying there's a chance?! Yes, while slim, playing that $2.00 does at least give you some hope. I know at my work will get a pool together for these big jackpots, where we all put in a couple bucks and then we have higher chances of winning. Has it ever worked for us so far? NO, but there's a chance.
Sometimes people will throw Lottery tickets in a with a card as part of a gift. For two reasons this is just plain crazy to me.
1. If that person doesn't win anything, you have just given them a useless piece of paper. What kind of gift is that? It's like giving them nothing.
2. What if they do win? What if they win big? Let's say $1,000,000. That could have been you! All you had to do was keep the ticket for yourself. I wouldn't be able to handle that. I would eventually go crazy living with that on my mind.
So take my advice. The next time you are running short on time and think about slipping in some lottery tickets with your gift...... Don't! Just give the person the $2.00 you would have spent on it and save your sanity.
And above everything know this: You are playing for fun. For the talk of it. You are not going to win any money. But, best of luck!
