The Running Man: Should You Run From or Watch?

The Running Man starring Glen Powell, came out in November of 2025.  I just finally watched now because it's available to watch on Paramount Plus.  The movie lasts 2 hours and 14 minutes and I will say, that seemed a bit long.  Which tells me if I think a movie is long, it can't be the best movie ever.  But before we go into that let's find out what it's about.

The Running Man is about a dystopian future where a deadly, televised manhunt game show forces desperate people, like protagonist Ben Richards (Glen Powell), to evade professional killers and the public for 30 days to win a huge cash prize, serving as a brutal form of social control and entertainment, with recent adaptations focusing on themes of media manipulation and rebellion. Ben, trying to earn money for his sick daughter, becomes a reluctant star, challenging the system and turning the hunt into a revolution against the oppressive Network.

So the movie is a remake.  Arnold Schwarzenegger was in the original movie that came out in 1987.  Now to be honest, I don't remember ever seeing that movie.  So I can't say for sure how closely this movie follows that one.  But, for the most part I did enjoy this movie.  It wasn't something you had to think too much about and was just entertainment.  But then came Michael Cera's part of the movie.  Michael Cera is known for his time on the show Arrested Development.  This portion of the movie is what really dropped it down for me.  I found it dumb and didn't really see why it was as long as it was.  But, overall the movie wasn't horrible.  Glen Powell does a good job with his acting, but the writing and story just wasn't the best.  So should you watch? Well, if you have Paramount Plus and it's free then it's a decent watch.  Don't pay money for it though.

Out of 10 Popcorn Kernels, I give it a 5.5.
