I use to always be big into having mayonnaise on sandwiches and even dipping fries in it. But recently I came across a new sauce that I have been putting with everything. It all started when my mom had me over last week to eat lunch for my sister's birthday. She had made some turkey tenderloins and had a sauce sitting out to go with it. It was called Yum Yum Sauce. Believe it or not, I had no idea what this was. So what is Yum Yum Sauce?
Yum yum sauce, also known as Japanese white sauce, sakura sauce, or seafood sauce, is a popular creamy, tangy, and slightly sweet dipping sauce commonly served at Japanese hibachi-style restaurants in the United States. Despite its association with Japanese cuisine, it is actually an American creation developed to accompany grilled meats and vegetables in steakhouses.
It was at that moment that I realized I had this sauce at our local Japanese restaurant where they cook at the table for you. They had put out this light orangish colored sauce, and I always enjoyed dipping my chicken, shrimp and even steak in it. So, that's what Yum Yum Sauce is! So I knew at that point I had to try it. Now, I love turkey tenderloins, and eat them a lot. But dipping the turkey in the Yum Yum Sauce took it to another level. It was so good! Why had I never bought this for home?!
Since my turkey tenderloin, I have been putting it on sandwiches, dipping fries in it and dipping chicken nuggets in it. It's so good! The brand I found at my local supermarket was Terry Ho's Yum Yum Sauce. I totally recommend and say try it today. It may just change up your boring condiment style!
