Automating Your House: Here's How I did it

In Today's world it's weird not to have control of things from your phone.  And even if you have an older house, it doesn't mean you can't upgrade a bit.  My house was built in 1994, so not new by any means, but I control many things from my phone.  Which means at work or where ever I may be, I can control what's going on there.  So by just making some orders on Amazon you can get hooked up today.

Here's what I use.

Ring:  I have had Ring Security and Cameras for 5 years now and I love it. Being able to view your home from your phone and have the security on each door and window is a good piece of mind.  Granted I don't live in "the hood", but the piece of mind of having it is great.  Plus I always know who is at my front door and can talk to them even if I'm not at home from my phone.  Now prices range depending on what you need and want for your house.  But, I highly recommend them.

Kasa:  The Kasa Smart app is a free mobile application from TP-Link used to control, configure, and monitor Kasa smart home devices like plugs, bulbs and switches. It enables remote management from anywhere, scheduling, energy monitoring, and integration with voice assistants like Amazon Alexa or Google Home. I personally have 12 of these throughout my home.  Which means I can turn on/off lights with my app or by telling Alexa to do it while at home. I also have some of my outdoor lights put on schedules where they automatically go off/on when day or night comes.  Lots of options. Check them out here or on Amazon.

XMcosy:  Last Year I made the change to these and I purchased off Amazon.  I have 3 of them and they replaced the lights outside next to my garage and my front entrance.  The lights can be setup thru their app to go off and on when needed.  Plus I can change the color whenever I want from the app.  So on St. Patrick's Day, I just go to the app and change them to green.  Lots of color options.  I really like these and the price wasn't too bad.  $90 for a 2 pack and $50 for 1 of them.

Sensi:  I like to be able to change the thermostat in my house from my phone when I need.  The Sensi Thermostat gives me this option.  So if my kids leave for the day and I'm at work, I can change the temperature to save myself some money.  It was any easy setup and only cost $80.

My Q:  People that can't open and close their garage door from their phone or know if it's open or not are missing out.  This is great and only costs $30 on Amazon.  I have had to use this a lot to open the garage when I'm a work for my family members or friends that need to drop stuff off or pick things up.  Plus I've been able to close my garage when my kids leave it open.

So, even if you have an older house, you can easily make your house modern by getting these items or something similar.  Because being able to control everything at your house and seeing what's going on from your phone ,is oh so nice.
