DIY Workshops At Your Local Home Depot or Lowe's for Kids

DIY Workshops at Lowe's and Home Depot for Kids

Both The Home Depot and Lowe's offer excellent, completely free monthly DIY workshops for children, designed to build hands-on skills. Each program provides the necessary materials, a kid-sized apron, and commemorative pins or badges upon completion.  My kids are older now, but they loved these when they were little, and they were great as a parent to have a free activity for the kids to do on weekends.  Plus they teach your kids to be creative!  Here are the details:

Lowe's Kids Club

  • Schedule: Monthly in-store sessions (usually the third week of the month).
  • Age Range: Aimed at children ages 5–12.
  • Features: Features themed builds with brand tie-ins (such as PAW Patrol) and highly creative wooden or plastic builds. Kids work toward a Builder Recognition program, collecting physical and digital badges and even earning a free tool bag.
  • Registration: Advance registration is required as part of the free MyLowe's Rewards Kids Club. Find upcoming projects and sign up at Lowe's Kids Club.

The Home Depot Kids Workshops

  • Schedule: First Saturday of every month from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
  • Age Range: Best suited for children ages 5–12 (though younger kids are welcome with parental assistance).
  • Features: Kids get to use real, lightweight tools (under supervision) to assemble fun projects like goalie games, go-karts, and rockets. Projects usually require some gluing, nailing, and painting.
  • Registration: Highly recommended to reserve your spot online in advance as they fill up quickly. Sign up at The Home Depot Kids Workshop.
