8 Creative Ideas You Can Do With Top Ramen To Make Dinner Easy

Let's be honest, most of us have a few packs of Top Ramen sitting in the pantry right now. It's inexpensive, easy to make, and has been an easy meal for college students, busy parents, and anyone looking for a quick bite for decades.

But Top Ramen can be so much more than a simple bowl of noodles and seasoning. With a few extra ingredients, you can turn it into surprisingly delicious meals that the whole family will enjoy.

Here are some of my favorite ways to upgrade a pack of Top Ramen.

1. Add Protein

The easiest way to make ramen more filling is to add protein. This simple addition turns a snack into a complete meal.  Try:

  • Shredded chicken
  • Ground beef
  • Sliced steak
  • Shrimp
  • Tofu
  • A fried or soft-boiled egg

2. Make a Ramen Stir-Fry

Cook the noodles and drain most of the water. Toss them into a skillet with vegetables, soy sauce, and your favorite protein. The noodles soak up the flavors and create a quick homemade stir-fry.

3. Use It in a Casserole

Cook the noodles and mix them with cooked chicken, vegetables, and a creamy sauce. Bake until bubbly for an easy weeknight casserole.

4. Make Ramen Noodle Salad

Crunch up uncooked ramen noodles and toss them into a cabbage salad with almonds, sunflower seeds, and a homemade dressing. It's a popular potluck side dish that always disappears quickly.

5. Turn It Into Lo Mein

Skip some of the broth and add soy sauce, garlic, sesame oil, and vegetables. In just a few minutes, you have a homemade lo mein inspired dish.

6. Make Spicy Peanut Ramen

Mix peanut butter, soy sauce, garlic, and a little hot sauce into the cooked noodles. The result is a creamy, flavorful dish that tastes much more expensive than it is.

7. Add Extra Vegetables

One of the easiest ways to upgrade ramen is to toss in vegetables you already have in the fridge:

  • Broccoli
  • Peas
  • Bell peppers
  • Spinach
  • Cabbage
  • Carrots

Not only does it add nutrition, but it also makes the meal more colorful and satisfying.

8. Use Crushed Ramen as a Topping

Crushed uncooked ramen noodles make a crunchy topping for salads, casseroles, and slaws. It's a simple way to add texture without spending extra money.

One reason Top Ramen remains so popular is its versatility. It costs very little, cooks in minutes, and serves as a blank canvas for countless meal ideas. When you're trying to stretch your grocery budget or simply need dinner in a hurry, it's hard to beat.  Top Ramen may have a reputation as a simple budget meal, but it can be transformed into so much more. With a few ingredients from your refrigerator or pantry, you can create soups, stir-fries, casseroles and salads.

The next time you grab a pack of Top Ramen, think beyond the seasoning packet. You might just discover a new family favorite!
