525 Million is the total contract value for two former Iowa State greats. But who makes more money? Before we answer that, let's take a look at their careers at Iowa State:
Brock Purdy: Brock Purdy’s 2018–2021 career at Iowa State was transformative, establishing him as arguably the best quarterback in school history. A four-year starter, he finished with 30 wins, 12,170 passing yards, and 81 passing touchdowns, owning 32 school records. He led the Cyclones to four consecutive winning seasons and a 2020 Fiesta Bowl victory.
Tyrese Haliburton: Tyrese Haliburton played two standout seasons at Iowa State (2018–2020), evolving from a highly efficient freshman into an elite sophomore point guard before being drafted 12th overall in 2020. Known for high-IQ play and efficient shooting (42.6% 3FG), he averaged 15.2 points, 6.5 assists, and 2.5 steals as a sophomore.
So between the two, the edge goes to Purdy. He has a full 4 years at Iowa State and led the Cyclones to new heights in Football. Haliburton had many special plays, but his teams at Iowa State didn't have as much success as Purdy's. Now let's take a look at both of them going into professional sports. Haliburton, even though ended his time at Iowa State with an injury was still drafted in the NBA with the 12th overall pick. Purdy, was drafted in the NFL, but with the very last pick of the draft with the 262nd pick. Advantage Haliburton.
Brock Purdy: Brock Purdy has had a historic start to his NFL career with the San Francisco 49ers, quickly transitioning from "Mr. Irrelevant" (last pick, 2022 draft) to a Pro Bowl starter. He won his first 10 regular-season starts, led the league in multiple passing categories in 2023, set the 49ers' single-season passing record (4,280 yards), and reached Super Bowl LVIII.
Tyrese Haliburton: Tyrese Haliburton has been an elite NBA point guard known for his elite playmaking and efficiency, currently starring for the Indiana Pacers after being drafted 12th overall in 2020 by Sacramento. A 2x All-Star (2023, 2024), he led the Pacers to the 2025 NBA Finals, averaging over 17 points and 8 assists per game for his career. Plus, Haliburton won a gold medal with Team USA at the 2024 Paris Olympics. He is the first former Iowa State player to win an Olympic gold medal.
So looking over their pro careers, both have seen great highs and both have battled with injuries. Very similar for the former Iowa State players. So who makes more? Well, they both deserve some money, but here is what they are getting:
Brock Purdy: 5 Years, 265 Million
Tyrese Haliburton: 5 Years, 260 Million
So the answer to the question of who makes more money? Brock Purdy. But, let's be honest. Both former Cyclones are making a ton of money! Let's hope they can continue their success.
