A couple of weeks ago I decided to make Kool-Aid Pickles to try. They were pretty good, so I started to think to myself, what else could pickles be good with. Of course you have the usual pickle pairings, but I was looking for something weird that I had never tried. After doing some research, I found something that sounded really interesting. Putting dill pickles with vanilla ice cream. I mean, it didn't sound very good, but many people had tried it and were pleasantly surprised. So, of course I had to try it too!
I cut up some dill pickles I already had and topped my vanilla ice cream with it. I made sure my first spoonful had pickle and ice cream on it. Then I slipped the weird combo in my mouth. At first the different taste kind of tripped me up. Then I took a few more bites of the combo. To be honest, it wasn't horrible. But, was it good. Would it be something I would go out of my way to make again? No. It wasn't something really special.
Then I thought to myself, is there anything else that could make this combination better? I remembered just a couple weeks ago I made a jar of Cherry flavored Kool-Aid Pickles. I wonder how this would taste with the vanilla ice cream. I would think the cherry flavor would add a bit more to this combo. So I cut up one of my Kool-Aid Pickles and put it on top of a scoop of vanilla ice cream. I grabbed a spoonful and popped it in. Right away, without delay I enjoyed the taste of this combo. Having the crunch from the pickle, with the ice cream was a great combo. The Cherry taste with a bit of the dill flavor was actually the perfect combo with the ice cream. It was a winner! I will be doing this one again and I suggest all of you to give it a try.
So what are you waiting for? Make some Kool-Aid Pickles, chop them up and try with some ice cream!
