I took my car in the other day for an oil change at the dealership where I purchased it. I've had it for a little over a year and the technician brought my car air and engine filter to me to see. It was full of dirt and needed to be replaced. I couldn't disagree with him, but then I asked how much it would cost. I couldn't believe what he said. For the cabin air filter it would be an extra $49.99 and for the engine filter an additional $69.99! What!? So basically $120 to replace those 2 filters. I was convinced this was a rip off. So I told him not right now.
As soon as I got home, I went straight to my computer and looked up how much these 2 filters were. Price ranges for my type of car were $10-$30 for the cabin air filter and $15-50 for engine filter. I ended up buying 2 off of Amazon that had lots of positive reviews for a total of $30! So it was way cheaper! So now, I had to see how hard it really was to change out.
I got the filters the same day thanks to Amazon Prime, and went to work. The cabin air filter took me 5 minutes to replace and was super easy. It was just a matter of opening up my glove compartment sliding it out and putting the new one in. Then it was on to opening the hood up and checking out how hard changing the engine filter would be be. I watched a quick YouTube video and gave it a try. Watching the video took longer than changing the filter. I would say 10 minutes total with the video and changing it out.
So it took me 15 minutes to change both of the filters and cost $90 less. So, unless you have money you like to throw away, do this easy job yourself. Then take that $90 and treat yourself to an awesome dinner!
