Bad Dining Smell - I Don't Pay For Bad Odors, I Pay For Good Food

Have you ever gotten home from eating out and noticed your clothes smell horrible? This can really ruin a dining experience for me. Some restaurants just seem to leave the fried food smell lingering all over you. One place I have noticed it at really bad is the Mexican restaurant I eat at quite often. When I leave their I can't stand my own smell.  Don't get me wrong the food is excellent, but it makes me want to stop eating there. I just don't get it, some restaurants must have better ventilation.

In fact, just the other day I was going to eat at a restaurant I had never tried and I walked in. There was a horrible smell that hit my nose and that was it for me. I had to leave.  Apparently the host said they were having some kind of issue with their bathroom pipes being backed up.  But it made the whole restaurant smell of a horrible odor. You can't have that at any business, let alone where you are serving food.

Another example of this was at one of my favorite sushi places. I went there this past Summer and we noticed an odd smell when we were looking over the menus.  I tried to figure out where the smell was coming from.  Then I took a whiff of the menu.  It was horrible.  It was like they took a dirty dish rag and wiped off the menus.  It was horrible. It made me lose my appetite.  I haven't been back there sense.

Moral of the story restaurant owners, don't leave your patrons smelling like a fryer, or have your restaurant smelling bad.  Spend that extra money on the best kitchen vents possible and clean your restaurant properly.  I don't care how good the food is, you won't stay open without a clean, good smelling place of business.
